Periodontal Treatment
Periodontal treatment includes a comprehensive range of therapies used to treat disease of the gums and surrounding tissues.
Periodontal disease occurs when plaque and calculus build up on the teeth and gums due to poor oral hygiene. Regular brushing and flossing assist in removing plaque from teeth daily, and failure to do so results in it hardening to form calculus.
When plaque accumulates on teeth over time, it irritates the gums, triggering inflammation, leading to periodontal disease. Inflamed gums bleed easily. If not treated in time, the infection worsens and spreads to the underlying bone.
