Medical Peel

Medical peeling is an exfoliation treatment that peels away the topmost layers of the skin to remove dead skin cells and allow new, healthy cells waiting underneath to resurface. It induces acute inflammation, which triggers the growth of new cells and boosts collagen production. This results in a lighter complexion, radiant skin, and reduced signs of ageing, thereby restoring a youthful glow.

This innovative two-phase peel has a bio-stimulating and revitalising peeling action. The exfoliation action of the Biorepeel promotes higher cell turnover and reduces acne scars and early signs of ageing.

This is one of our most powerful medical peel treatments, which are great for depigmentation and the lightening of scars. We also work with our patients to provide home products that they are prescribed to apply at home, under the guidance of our aestheticians.

This medical peel is known for its effective action against severe, resistant skin pigmentation. It has a dual action that helps lighten scars and other forms of pigmentation. It has an in-clinic and at-home phase that our aestheticians will guide you through.

Many of our medical-grade peels are suitable for use in intimate areas.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

A medical peel treatment is relatively safe. However, it may cause minor side effects in some individuals. These include:

  • Redness
  • Changes in skin colour
  • Formation of a crust
  • Itching
  • Infection
  • Swelling

After a medical peel procedure, you can resume your regular routine. However, you may notice some redness and a tingling sensation for a few days after the session. Your skin may take a week or two to recover. If you have any concerns or questions, speak to our skincare specialist at Hortman Clinics during your initial consultation appointment.

A medical peel procedure does not hurt. You may feel a mild tingling sensation as the peel acts on your skin during the procedure. Your skin may feel sore after the procedure, but your skincare specialist will recommend the right measures to ease any discomfort.

To maximise the effect and results of a medical peel procedure, preparing your skin 2 to 4 weeks before is important. After a detailed consultation and evaluation, you must use daily sun protection. You may be given retinoids five days before the treatment. Proper preparation ensures maximum penetration and effects of the peel. It also helps reduce any post-procedural side effects.

Your skincare specialist will suggest aftercare measures, such as following a medical peel procedure. These include:

  • Avoid exposing your skin to water or any other products for atleast 8 hours
  • If you experience irritation or redness, follow your skincare specialist’s recommended calming facial oil or cooling balm.
  • Avoid makeup.
  • Avoid heat, sweating or exercise for the first 12 hours of the procedure.
  • For the first 48 hours after the procedure, avoid exposure to the sun, hot sauna, chlorinated pools, or spas.
