Lesion Excision

Lesion excision or skin lesion removal is a procedure in which a growth, lump, sore or abnormal skin area is surgically removed (excision). Most lesion excisions are done in the office on an outpatient basis by a trained dermatologist. The type of procedure and extent depend upon the lesion's location, type and size. The lesion excised (or surgically removed) is usually sent to a laboratory for examination.
