  • An intravenous line (IV line) is placed in your arm.
  • The area around the vulva is cleaned, and anaesthesia is given. Depending on the extent of the procedure, local or general anaesthesia may be given.
  • The surgeon will choose the surgical technique to reshape and resize the labia.
  • Once the surgery is done, the surgeon will place a dressing on the treated area.

Recovery after Labiaplasty

You will require atleast 2 weeks off work to rest and recover from a labiaplasty. Some people may take months before their skin heals completely. During the recovery phase, you must:

  • Wear loose undergarments to prevent rubbing or chaffing
  • Keep the area clean and free from infection
  • Avoid sex for atleast 4 weeks after the procedure or until your doctor allows it
  • Avoid riding bikes, running or any form of physical activity or exercise atleast for 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure
