  • Stop any medications or supplements that can increase your risk of bleeding, bruising, or affect healing. Always consult with your surgeon and physician before stopping any prescription or non-prescription medicines.
  • You must quit smoking at least two months before your eyelid uplift procedure as smoking interferes with blood flow, delays healing and increases the risk of complications.
  • You should be healthy and maintain a stable weight before your surgery for optimum results.

What Should I Expect After an Eyelid Surgery?

The results of a blepharoplasty vary for everyone. Here’s what you can expect after your procedure:

  • You will have mild pain or discomfort after the procedure, but with medications prescribed by your surgeon, your pain will be minimal and manageable.
  • You may observe some bruising and blackish pigmentation around your eyes that will resolve in the few days following your treatment.
  • You will need to visit your surgeon for a follow-up a day or two after your surgery and a week later for suture removal. During these visits, your surgeon will be able to monitor your healing and recovery.
  • You must avoid applying any makeup around your eyes or wear your contact lenses for at least two weeks after the procedure.
